£100 clamp to parking outside of bay due to other vehicles parking
I got clamped today. Paid £100 for the release of the car. The care park was on private land. When I arrived there were two bays left. I parked adjacent to the car to my left. There was an empty bay to the right. The care to my left was a 4x4 and was parked at an angle and I therefore parket to an angle. THis meant my right wheel was over the bay makings. THe bay markings were non existant to the left and just about visible on the right. I had no idea you could get a clamp for this. Spoke to the clamping guy he said that 2.5 cm over the bay line from the inside of your tyre means they can clamp. As I spoke to him about this there were several people who drove up and parked over the lines in other bays.
It was one of those car parks which are a bit rough and the paint was faint in many places.
I don't think folk know about this rule over parking outside a bay. I was so mad. I am going to appeal but I doubt it will do much. I've taken photos etc etc.
Does anyone know what consistutes a reasonable clamping fine?
Thanks

Wonder what would happen if you took your wheels off and put them in your boot and then left the car up on axle stands...?!0
