Gym membership

My husband and I are both registered disabled. Are there any gyms that offer disabled membership rates? Thanks

Me, too! I find swimming is the only real exercise I can do, but gym memberships are so expensive if you're only going to make use of one of the facilities. I'd love to hear of any discounts.

i know my local leisure center offers a discounted price on swimming.. worth asking on the desk at your local gym/leisure center

I have a local discount card that makes exercise cheaper, i also get to take a carer free cos i get mid rate DLA. Check with your local council to see if they have a similar scheme.

The other thing which might be worth exploring is the GP exercise referal scheme-i got offered this and got reduced gym membership through it.

If you have a local 'Total Fitness' Gym, they have a programme called 'clinical population', which does a reduced rate for people with a long term health problem that will benefit from exercise. You have to get a letter from your GP or consultant. I think it works out at something like two thirds the regular rate - about £28 a month. The Warrington one also has a 'Reach for Health' programme, which is funded by the local health partnership.
