Accepting Paypal for Gumtree sale??

Hi I have had a reply to a Gumtree advert that I listed about 2 weeks ago asking if I had a Paypal account.

Before I reply is there any thing I should be aware of if I was to accept Paypal and post the goods? ( The whole beauty of Gumtree, in my opinion, is that people come and collect and pay by cash)

TIA

Dx

All the usual scams plus no 'history' to be able to check them out.

I usually ignore all requests when paypal is mentioned due to it likely to be a scam.

Thanks soolin ... I may tell a fib and say that they are welcome to collect!

There are a lot of scammers on on Gumtree so cash on collection is always best, I would not consider doing it any other way. If I wanted to sell something and take paypal I would use ebay.

You can be sure it's a scam if they then come back with a western union offer. The home of scams, and the method of choice for gumtree scammers

They can also scam with paypal. Theusual trick is to send an email supposedly from paypal telling you itme needs to be shipped and then funds will be released. It's a variation on the Western Union scam.

I sent an email telling her that I don't have paypal and she has replied saying that she will send a cheque and include something for p+p.
