Is postage refunded?

I have sent an item back to an eBay seller. (Business seller with eBay shop.)

Do they refund the item price only?

Do they refund the item price plus original postage?

I understand I cover the return traceable postage. I don't understand what return refund to expect.

You are entitled to your original payment refunded in full. The seller can't make any deductions.

If they haven't specifically stated in their terms that you must pay for the return postage, they are obliged to pay that too... however it would be near impossible to force them to pay it if they decided not to.

I have just reread the e-mail when I requested the return and refund.

They have said "I can only refund for the item not for any of the postage"

    EDIT:
Parcel has been signed for so I will wait and see.

The seller has issued a partial refund. No postage but they have refunded the item plus £0.55p .
    What do I do next?

Open a dispute with paypal for item not as described, and follow the instructions to make a full claim and ensure the tracking you have shows delivery and enter it into the dispute.

Would I not be better off asking the seller to explain the refund first?

I don't understand why they have added £0.55p to the refunded item price.

Did they refund the item price plus the original postage? If not then open a claim simple as that. If they added 55p to the FULL original transaction then leave it at that
