First Post Third Anniversary Mortgage-free Glee! Combo Breaker
I'm a bit out of the ebay loop but I'm tragically excited because I've just started leaving feedback for someone - and because postage was free, they automatically get 5 stars for postage. I expect you all know that but it was new to me :D
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

The fact that stars were introduced in order to 'improve the seller's performance' is a nonsense by it being anonimous. (sorry-sp?)

The only way to get 5 stars on postage is to offer free p&p.
I'm beginning to believe it's actually impossible to acheive 5 stars on p&p!
I send on the day or the day after and mine is down to 4.7 at the moment!

It's not impossible! I have 5 stars across the board, I charge exactly what it costs to post.

I'm also finding lots of people are not leaving feedback, I had over 200 (a month) about 2 weeks ago and am now down to 158, I am posting about 10 parcels a day and only getting 1, 2 or 3 feedbacks a day.

Good luck with your Shop.

This is actually irrelevant to TRS - TRS is calculated by the number of low stars you get as a percentage of the TOTAL TRANSACTIONS and not as a percentage of those that left feedback. In theory if you were not left any feedback at all you would get (and stay) TRS....LOL

Pretty sure that you wouldnt stay a TRS, you need to have x amount of transactions in a designated time period, unless Im nistaken?

Yes you would as long as you had the transactions - you do not need to have feedback for the transactions - that is my point.

You are actually better off NOT canvassing for feedback as for every feedback rating you get you run the risk of a low star (or 2) - better not to have the feedback at all! - CRAZY SYSTEM!

I too charge exactly what it costs to post, using new packaging, and in January had 3 inexplicable low DSRs for postage charges. As a small scale private seller it seems I'm stuffed for a year, but for the last few weeks I have had over 90% weekly sales, for good or better than good prices, so I have stopped brooding.
But the system is insane.
• Does ebay track buyers that consistently LEAVE low stars? Probably not but maybe they should... The lowest i've ever had to leave anyone is 4.

Sympathies Soolin. My TRS has gone and there is little prospect of me getting it back soon. 6 lows stars on P & P, five since the beginning of the year, and I am so peed off I've virtually stopped listing.

Before anyone slates me and says I deserved to lose it with such low stars, I have received 5 x 1* for charging 60p to post something that costs 41p to post, plus 9p for packaging. As a result my discount has dropped from 25% to 5%.

I totally agree with a system to stop rogue sellers for drastically overcharging, but this system is a joke.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D

Charlies mum, just list with free p+p and absorb the extra in the sale price, its what I do now as with some people you just cant win. There was actually someone on here the other day who was considering leaving a 1 star for postage because they couldnt see how much the postage cost, just a first class symbol, go figure....

Mrs Justjohn, I see what you're saying.. Re canvassing for fb, I never do this and cringe when i see the questions on here asking "should I ask for feedback" No news is good news IMO, better no feedback than low stars
• my p&p rating is 4.8 but the biggest difference Ive had on postage is charging £1 to post a DVD when it cost 84p second class or 91p first class, ive even paid more than Ive charged on most other things as they have have been too big and gone through as a packet rather than a large letter.
Then when I buy stuff I find other people charging loads more and have good feed back.

I also dont agree with people who say if you see the postage cost up front and agree to pay it you shouldnt complain if it has cost less to send it, when I see a postage price and pay it its because I think thats how much it must cost to post so when something is delivered costing half the price that was stated I do become a little miffed (I dont go round kicking up aa stink about these things but it does annoy me)

sorry rant over now.
