another low star

I'm borderline losing my TRS as a buyer just left me a 1 or 2 * for item description as the item I sent in a box had the corner of the box dinted a bit. he left feedback and stars before he told me, but hastened to assure me it did not affect the item at all.
So, as a small power seller with a low turnover that low star and the one I got from a really dodgy buyer a few months ago means I am in the frame to lose my discounts.
Luckily I have today signed a contract for a real B & M presence (albeit a miniscule) one so I will have another source of sales.
I am a bit irritated though

Bricks and mortar.
Sorry to hear that Soolin. The new outlet sounds exciting though!0 -

You cannot win-the star system is so flawed and abused!
I think buyers mainly leave stars for how pleased they are with the item and how quickly it got to them.
Even if it was dispatched on day of or one day after payment, if RM delivers slowly, you get low stars.
The fact that stars were introduced in order to 'improve the seller's performance' is a nonsense by it being anonimous. (sorry-sp?)
The only way to get 5 stars on postage is to offer free p&p.
I'm beginning to believe it's actually impossible to acheive 5 stars on p&p!
I send on the day or the day after and mine is down to 4.7 at the moment!
Dispatch and delivery, same thing to buyers. etc etc0 -
Co incidentally this is not one of my usual lines, it was just a one off I was selling. The buyer was actually a dealer in the item i sold and I just had that tiny little grumpy thought that he did it as he was jealous of my TRS status as he doesn't have TRS.
But I'm probably just grumpy and looking for conspiracies when there are none.

I also wondered about this buyer and if they were also a dealer in that catagory that just wanted to put off competition and persuade other sellers not to start selling in that catagory as they did seem to be buying a lot of brand new baby related items.
I phoned ebay and asked them if this was the case as I was sure the item was perfect when I sent it and well packed the advisor said they would look in to it but they could not let me know the outcome of their investigation.
My buyer is now no longer a registered user and according to ebay when I asked this is why by default the low rating and feedback has been removed from my account even though in the past when buyers have became no longer registered if they had been a member for a long time a few years like this one their feedback remained on my account.
Soolin this may well be worth a phone call to ebay just to make sure this buyer is not like the one I got.0 -
Very strange I sold a pair of brand new boxed baby monitors a few weeks ago it was also a one off sale not a product line and I recieved much the same low as described DSR and positive feedback saying package damaged and when I asked if there was a problem the buyer said they worked fine were in good condition but the box looked like it had been opened a few times and had a dent in one corner so the packaging did not look new.

I'm very surprised that eBay commented as to why, as this would normally be confidential. Maybe you just touched lucky with a badly trained agent. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
I lost my TRS status this month, was really annoyed as I got 2 low stars for P&P, I don't overcharge on P&P maybe only 10 or 15 pence. I had a low star for Communication. I have sold hardly anything since I lost my TRS status, I had an item that was on page 3 or a Best Match search and today it is on page 4, not sure how this best match search works.
I'm also finding lots of people are not leaving feedback, I had over 200 (a month) about 2 weeks ago and am now down to 158, I am posting about 10 parcels a day and only getting 1, 2 or 3 feedbacks a day.
Good luck with your Shop.Sealed Pot Challenge #0160 -
TBH if you're selling that amount and getting a couple of low stars loses you your TSR, you can't have been that good in the first place. I sell far less quantities than you and I can take a few 1 star hits without losing mine and I've had some real pillocks as customers.0

According to my dashboard I am allowed 3 in any one category. I now have 2 in a single category so am pushing my luck.
I am also assessed on a yearly basis as my turnover is not enough to assess me quarterly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
