Honeymoon in Japan, insureandgo say cancellation is not covered, any advice?

Hi,
Long time reader, first time poster.
We recently (the Monday before the terrible disaster in Japan) booked our honeymoon to Japan. We had planned to spend three weeks there with one of those weeks based in Tokyo. Obviously, with the terrible events there and the FCO advice against essential travel, we thought it might be safer to try have our honeymoon elsewhere (although we'd love to visit japan in the future).
Emirates have very kindly agreed to refund our flights, but our travel company have said that if we cancel, they can only refund 75% of the cost. We (perhaps naively) expected the remainder to be covered by our travel insurer (Insureandgo), but having spoken to them, they say that cancellation is not covered in this case as it's only an FCO 'recommendation'. If, they said, all trips were cancelled, because of war or similar, then it may be covered.
Does anyone have any advice here? Or are we left with throwing away a quarter of our honeymoon :-(
