hi there
I'm looking for some clarity, I have one child whom I receive tax credits for in relation to his childcare. I will be going on maternity leave in the next 5 weeks. I am reducing my son's childcare from a full week to two mornings.
Can someone tell me what the next stage is and if I receive any help with regards to the costs whilst on maternity leave. I know some take their children out of nursery etc to care for them aswell as the new baby but I would like to keep his place and wondered if I get any help towards this cost considering I am 'still employed' as such..
Thanks for reading.

You will definitely still qualify for childcare as long as you are on "Paid Maternity Leave" if you chose not to return to work after that initial paid period (39 weeks in my case, or whatever your companies policy is) then the childcare payments will need to stop.
Make sure you tell them that your nursery fees are going to drop down to only 2 mornings a week - you can do this 7 days in advance of it actually happening.
Congrats on your pregnancy - I only know this as I have just put in an application for childcare to the Tax Credits lot for my 3 year old, as I am due in 5 weeks and in receipt of Maternity Allowance, quite the opposite of you though, he's going to start at nursery just before Bubs is born so that I can have a little peace at home haha!
