I have had chicken pox, when I was a child. But obviously the baby hasn't. I just want to know if I should put her off or actually see her.Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY0

Best phone NHS direct just to be on the safe side. I think you can call them 24/7.0

If it was me, I would put it off until the baby is here, it is only a couple of weeks now, you are so close.0

My son (And husband!) have just had this. The advice I was given was if either had any contact with pregnant women was to tell the woman to go to her midwife & ask for a blood test, if not immune then there is a baby-safe vaccine they can have but it must be given 4-10 days after exposure. My husband had had it as a child but obviously his immunity must have been a bit thin on the ground, and I know lots of other people who have had it more than once, so play it safe. Personally I'd put off going to see the friend, it isn't worth the risk of the discomfort of it! Plus if you did contract it then chances are it would be at it's height right over your due date...apart from the discomfort (which according to my hubby is excruicating but then he's never given birth:rolleyes:) that is not how you want to appear in your 1st photos with your little one!:p
HTH;)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
Like counting pennies I would avoid your friend (and family) until after your baby is born. I was told that chicken pox is only a potential problem at the start and end of pregnancy (you don't want to risk passing it on to your new born). Also just because you have had chicken pox doesn't guarantee immunity. You could end up with shingles:eek: From experience my son has had both chicken pox and shingles and another child who I childmind has had chicken pox twiceI like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0

I wouldn't risk it - you'll probably see your friend in a few weeks when your baby's born anyway:D0

We had a similar situation when my daughter had chicken pox and it was my other daughters birthday and my sister was pregnant and all the advice was that it would be fine as you couldnt catch shingles from chicken pox and if shed had chicken pox then she should be fine. And she decided to stay away and we were not offended in any way it is totally understandable to stay away. The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

I was told the worst time to come in contact with Chicken Poxs when pregnant is the first trimester and 8 months to birth.
Also told if you have had chicken Pox you are immune and your baby will not be harmed even if you caught them again.
I wasn't sure if I had them so the hospital did a blood test.
I was told this by the hospital.0 -
Definately don't go, see her once the chicken pox has cleared up and your friend is passed the incubation period. It could be very dangerous to you and your baby if you contracted it at this stage and even to you newborn if he/she contracted it in the first month.Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0
