Dla stopped

Hi had a home visit on 9th march and been told I am no longer entitled to any Dla.

I was on high rate mobility and lower rate care, I can't believe it I am appealing my income support as it is, I believe by failing my medical for Is, it has triggered my medical for Dla even though I had three and a half years before it was due to be reviewed.

I am waiting for the lady in Cab to ring me back she is helping me with my appeal for IS, see what she advises me to do.
I think I will make an appointment with my MP and see if he can help in anyway.

Yikes, it's quite a drop to go from HRM to nothing! :( What happened? Have you any idea why they've done this?

Hi thanks for the quick reply the doctor was really nice I can only walk less than 50 metres, which is on the form they sent me, I don't go out on my own only with my son, in the car, which isn't far.

It is just scary how they can take it all away. The medical took ages over 2 hours I know it is hard to believe.
I don't feel I have the energy to appeal this as well.

I am so sorry about your news.

I take it that you were informed by letter that your DLA application was unsuccessful with their decision?

On that letter you have a month from the date on top of that letter to appeal. I know it's hard but if you really believe that you are eligible for DLA you should appeal.

Normally on a decision letter they point out how they came to their decision - on care rate and on mobility rate.

You could send them a letter and ask for a reconsideration - pointing out why you disagree with their decision.

    Good luck.

I agree with Tobruk, do appeal. You're probably completely fed up right now and sapped in energy and just can't face it, but give it a few days and then appeal.

ETA - and thank you for your kind wishes x
  • Thanks Tobruk and Fleur I know I should appeal I am genuine, when I failed my IS I made my self ill through the worry.

Your both right I know I should appeal I am waiting for the lady from Cab to ring me back.
    I will keep you updated

    Thanks again

I would advise any contact with DLA is made by letter - no point phoning them as you need to keep a record of all correspondence.

If you write a letter asking for a reconsideration, take you time to write the letter (I did this and was successful!) taking each point and explain why you disagree. When you are happy with what you have written you can send it, include any evidence - perhaps from your GP, specialist, therapist etc.

Thank you I will do that, I have some evidence from my IS appeal so I will photocopy that.

But it MUST be evidence that shows, proves and establishes the fact that you have a problem with mobility and with care.

It is no good just sending proof in that you have a condition/illness, it should be about your needs.

Yeah I , I have various illnesses, I have proof of my conditions and how they affect me with my mobility and my care needs.
I have requested my medical report, so I have to wait and see.

Has the DLA been stopped as a result of another medical for a different benefit?

Or did they just randomly choose to select you for a DLA medical mid claim?
