Do you know hwat your LHA rate is for the year? if you google 'LHA rate......and then the name of the borough you live in - it will likely bring you up on a website that will tell you what your entitlement is for housing in yoru particular area. I think it will give you a 'current' rate, and then a rate from some date in April which will be the new rates.

How many hours a week do you work to earn that £37 per week? Is it self employment?

I dont actually do any work, this is residual earnings from promotions I done a few years earlier, yes its calssed as self employed

My local area housing is 121.36 per week, although Im earning and not working would the amount of housing benefit be lower ? and what about council tax? would I have to pay some?

    thanks

If you don't work, you will still be entitled to Income Support - they will ignore the first £20 per week of your income and reduce your £65.45 by the rest of your income. You would qualify for housing benefit and council tax benefit on top of your cash benefits, and your maintenance won't affect your benefits at all. Good luck.

The rates I think you will get are:

    £65.45 - £17.76
    £57.57 for your child
    £17.40 family premium
    £20.30 child benefit.

Somebody else will be able to confirm if they deduct the amount of child benefit you get when they calculate the cash figure - they certainly used to do this, but there was talk some years ago of changing this, but I don't know whether it was done. So you would either get £122.66 or £102.36 per week. With your income and disregard, and maintenance your cash income per week would be either £200.92 or £179.62. Then you get your rent paid and council tax paid on top of that. Rent allowance will be subject to the LA rules which I don't know so you may get it all or have to contribute towards it. You would pay no council tax at all.
