London For Day Out 28/11/06

I am taking my girlfriend for a day out in london next week. We are getting the 8am train from liverpool arriving in euston around 10.30 and we are on the 21.00 train home.

She want to go to harrods & hamleys and also camden docks. Can anyone else suggest any other good activities, that are quite cheap?

I would also like to go for a nice meal, but it has to be cheap and quite central (ish).

We always go to the Imax cinema near Waterloo and we also tried the london Eye.
Our favourite thing is the London Dungeons.
When we first got in i wasn't very impressed but in the end we had a great time.
We also walked with the kids up the mall and spent some time at buckingham palace.
    Have a good time.

In London I would stick to a big chain resturant as resturants can be quite dear but if you are going to Camden maybe you could stop by Islington and go to Upper Street, its got millions of pubs and places to eat (well ok not millions but loads).

How are you going to get about? Are you gettting tube, bus or cab?

The Imax is a cinema that shows 3d films.
The london Eye was about 12.00 per adult i think.
We only really do Pizza hut when we go so i cant recommend any where to eat.

Somewhere to eat - Lastminute.com do a few offers, also if you go for a pretheatre menu it's a lot cheaper. We went to London in October and had three really nice meals for a lot less than I had expected. What type of food/ restaurant would you like and how much would you like to spend?
  • The offer below from buyagift is a spin on the London eye, then a 2 course lunch on the Thames for 2.Price is £79 for 2 on the website, but do a search on the discount codes board and you will find a code for 25% off, bringing it down to £60.34,or just over £30 each.
    Very good value.

London eye at dusk would be gr8. Otherwise, walk along the Thames from Embankment to nearly Tower of London. Cheap & interesting!

if you are going to camden, there is a nice pub called liberties which does really nice food and i thought it was really reasonable. It is on camden high street on a corner opposite woolworths. It is about 5 mins walk from camden lock back into camden.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....
