Hi.
I am soon to move to a new location and am taking my youngest son with me. When we move i will have to swap children over on my claim as one of my other children currently is on it.
What i want to know is that if my now ex partner and i phone the tax credits up while we are togther can we swap them over on the phone without having to shut the claims down and re-start them.?.
It will be a big hassle if we have to shut the claims down and would like to avoid this if at all possibile.

Are you saying you are both claiming as single parents at the moment but living together?
It is your responsibility to inform HMRC of a COC.
If there is only one claim active for you both and the children, i should imagine this will be closed and you would have new claims to set up.
Contact HMRC for guidance and to avoid any overpayments.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -

No not at all. I have split up with her and live seperate from her in my own flat. I am moving away soon. We have three kids of which one lives with me (the eldest). When i move i will be taking the youngest child with me who is not on my claim, he is on hers (and living with her at the moment). What i want to do is inform them of a change of certs just before i leave but do it if i can over the phone so we don't both have to shut our claims down and re-do new ones.0 -
Sorry Orville post was a little confusing.
As claims are already active i shouldn't see a problem with informing of a COC and changing children over.
Do you receive Child Benefit for the youngest, i'm thinking this could hold any claim up due to tax credits are usually paid to the parent who receives this.
There are people who have a vast wealth of knowledge on tax credits so keep checking your post throughout the day.
Good luck.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0
