Claiming JSA - no letter or payslips

Bit of a fluster. I've just withdrawn from college due to major financial problems and so have put in a claim for JSA (income based).

I have been working part-time, 10 hours per week but my six month contract hasn't been renewed due to project cut backs. Trouble is, my boss is a bit slack on pay slips so I don't have my last two months and I have requested a letter, reminder sent this morning, just to simply state hours and pay but I have had no response. I have bank statements (I'm assuming as I'm paperless printed ones will be fine?) showing wages going in.

Is this going to be a major headache?

I used paperless bank sheets with no problems and I would think the wage slips are not that important, if you had a letter confirming the cutback situation that should be enough evidence to get you onto JSA.

That's just it, I don't have a letter, I've requested it twice but had no response and as the owner/director is in Australia I can't just nip in and ask! I have also asked the acting manager/colleague to shoot out a quick letter, it is only stating facts after all but again, have had no response.

I suppose they could just ring if it is an issue, I've no problem with that, I would just liked to have had everything I needed. Even if I was still working there I could still sign on as it's less than 16 hours per week which is why I'm hoping it isn't going to be a massive issue.

Dont waste time trying to get everything together just sign on then if anything needs looking into by JSA dept at least it is backdated to when you claim from.

You normally have 1 month to provide the information requested so tell your boss this, and tell DWP so they know you are trying to get the information. They may not accept bank statements as there is no breakdown and they need to know if there have been any deductions or additional payments made. You could ask them to write directly to your boss for the information-they will send a form A15 which might give him the push he needs!
