Manuka Honey for Acne

Has anyone tried using Manuka Honey topically on spots? I suffer from unexpected and random breakouts even though I'm nearly 30 and thought I'd try an alternative to the harsh chemical stuff I've been using which hasn't really helped much.

I'd be interested to know if anyone's tried it and whether it worked.

Thank you :)

I ften use honey, especially manuka, as a facepack. I find it takes the anger out of skin rather than reducing the number of spots, reducing the severity of each one for me. But sometimes to an incredibly impressive degree. If you don't want to spend on manuka, it is a price commitment, I suggest trying any unset honey first to see if there is any small benefit then try active manuka honey. It also seems to make skin softer.

I find harsh chemical stuff counter productive, it makes my severe combination skin both angrier and drier, so things like honey and oil are better for me.
  • I dont know if Manuka Honey is supposed to target spots but I have used the dr Organic manuka Honey moisuriser which is lovely for softening skin.Holland and Barrett do a range of Dr Organic stuff from manuka Honey,Tea Tree,Aloe Vera,Rose etc which might be worth trying!!

  • I went through a stage of getting breakouts and then I started using clinique mild facial wash and the clarifying lotion every morning and night and I also use the serum and night creams and find this has worked for me and keeps my skin clear !! Might be worth going and getting a skin consultation!!Plus the clinique seems expensive but it lasts AGES!! ive had the clarifying lotion since oct and am only just over half way through using it every day lol
