Graduate credit cards equivalent

It seems like most banks don't offer graduate credit cards anymore, but still offer student credit cards.
The equivalent to graduate credit cards seems to be a 'Classic' one (not Gold, Platinum, etc...).
Out of curiosity, how come they aren't offered sub-prime cards/rates, like Aqua, Vanquis, and the like?
