I believe indoor ariels are only good in very strong signal areas.

Also your indoor ariel will be a lot lower that the one on your roof. A signal may reach the one on the roof but not the indoor one. Building. hills etc. in the way.

Of course, you may be able to get a long cable and put the indoor ariel in the loft.
  • It helps if the aerial can be put in a window facing the transmitter.

Freeview for your PC here from ebuyer.

Read the reviews and remember the stronger the signal the better your picture.
  • ebuyer say "You will be amazed how such a small stick allows you to access free analog & digital TV and radio signals including teletext wherever you are."

I'd be amazed if such a small stick allowed reception wherever I was!

    Me too!

Now all we need is someone with more "disposable income" than we have to try one.

I wouldn't buy this unless the people next door had one and I'd seen it working. (not for a laptop, just a static PC)

I read the reviews, not all of them just the first few.

They said that the supplied ariel was rubbish, unles you were in a stong signal area.

Some quotes, for those too lazy to follow the link them selves :D

"The only issue thus far i have with this product is the supplied aerial. It is basically useless, it picks up no signal so i had to connect it to my house aerial and it worked great."

"Installed it on my laptop at home(doncaster) had to use the rooftop ariel as the supplied one didnt work but whilst on site in london the little ariel worked fine"

"The supplied aerial is pretty useless but when a good indoor aerial is connected 40 channels were soon found and the picture quality was good."

"The supplied aerial is a waste of time as it picks up absolutely nothing. "

To put it in simple terms, look out of your window, if you can see the transmittor it will probably work. If you can't then you may find it doesn't.

That sums it up nicely, geordie joe.

It's worth remembering that not all transmitters carry Freeview yet so even if you can see the transmitter you won't necessaruly get Freeview.

Good point although most will by 2012, if you can wait that long but not all will.
We all evolve - get on with it

Oops, that didn't even enter my head, thanks for pointing it out.

The transmittor nearest to me won't have freeview until 2012, but the next nearest one has it, but you need a roof ariel to get it.
