karaoke and cdg

i have been looking to buy some karaoke music discs for xmas pressies but some have cdg on them and some dont (been looking on hmv site) what is the difference between the two

CD+G is audio CD with low-rez (something like 160x160 16 color) graphics in the subcode tracks, and it's sent at a low bitrate so the graphics slowly paint in like a 2400 baud modem. It looks horrible like something you would expect from an Apple II. Most karaoke these days is VCD, which is somewhat-lower-than-VHS quality on your television, but definitely good enough for singing along when you're smashed out of your mind on booze.

gobbledegook:rotfl: :rotfl: what exactly should i look for as in karaoke for my daughter (9yrs) hopefully wont be smashed out her mind on booze:rotfl:

something that will come up on screen ie words for her to sing along with but also has the audio voice on aswell we once had a disc that just had words and music (didnt like that one)
