Dead Toshiba notebook - cheap spares??

My Portege 2010 notebook has just died after 3 years. A Toshiba-recommended supplier has quoted £980 to repair it (replacing the mainboard and LCD). Since it only cost £1,000 new (from Morgan Computers) this would be funny if it wasn't true.

Obviously it makes no sense to pay for a repair, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap source of Toshiba spares, if I fancied cracking it open and attempting a repair myself? I've been keeping an eye on eBay but there's nothing there at the moment.

TIA for any tips.

cant see anything myself, you could e-bay the parts that work in yours and put the money towards a new one. They are a lot cheaper these days.
