Is this just me or are paypal totally useless?

I had a paypal acount last year when I swapped ISPs.
I went into the account and changed the account details so that everything should be fine as it was under my old isp email.
I sell some things and get a 'claim payment' message.
This is followed by 2 weeks of back and forth emails to paypal with them telling me that nothing is pending for my account and teling me to tell the buyers what to do to pay me.
I eventually get the buyers to pay to OH account and send the things with many appologies to them, thankfully they accepted that it wasnt me.
I fire off a final email to paypal commending them on their levels of incompetence and close the account.
Naturally buying stuff on ebay without paypal is almost impossible so I'm forced to open a new account.
So it comes around to me selling a few things this week, guess what message I get?
Yep a 'claim payment' and this is followed up by a payment recieved message though my account shows no transactions at all.
I'm waiting for a reply to my somewhat frank email to paypal, their help section doesnt appear to cover 'we're crap and have lost your money'.

You have either not linked yoru email address correctly or else you have put the wrong email/paypal address on your listings.
Check any current listings you have , the usual error is that a seller has used a .com address when they have in fact got a .co.uk account.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Mine is for the wrong address on the listings. Its filled in automatically in many cases and you need to change the email address on the Ebay account as well as Paypal.0

Nope everything is fine on that score.
They were the same excuses paypal kept coming up with last time.
Each time I pointed that out to them I'd get another faceless member of their 'Hinderance desk' sending out the same old stock email telling me I or the buyers are doing something wrong then offering that reason.
Still awaiting their pearls of wisdom.0 -

It can only go where you asked for it to go, my only other thought is that you have a basic private paypal account and so need to upgrade to a premier?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Indeed it can and does, hence the emails off them telling me I've been paid or have a pending payment.
Question is what they do with it next?
Paypal have sent the standard message about email addys and that I or the buyer have put the wrong one in.
How nice it was to see the same old letter that I saw so many times last year when they simply didnt read anything that had already been sent.
This time they have changed track by taking the money from the buyer, they must have realised they were loosing interest.0 -
My OH had this problem this week, he listed some items using ebay and for some reason ebay used an old paypal email with an old ISP just like this case. Unfortunatly once bids are made, you can't change the paypal address in ebay.
We had already removed that email form the paypal account so we had emails saying we had money to claim but no way to do it. We ended up ringing paypal and they were able to link the old emails to the paypal account as they had a record of them on there years ago. Thank godness as we had no way of getting back into those accounts to confirm them.
Glad it wasn't only us that it happened to, maybe it was a blip with ebay this week.0 -

When you change the email for paypal it must be changed on each future and current listing, it does not change automatically, but there is a glitch that sometimes when you change it in turbolister it reverts back to the one previously, so always worth checking before you list.
Just changing the email address with paypal and ebay does not change what a seller has used in their auction template.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This might explain the issues I've been having with ebay and paypal then. I bought something the night before last and went to pay for it. My credit card and bank account have vanished from paypal (ish) so the only options I had for payment were from my paypal balance or an eCheque. I last bought and paid for something on the 14th and had no issues completing directly on paypal from my credit card. In between those times I have listed and sold a fair amount of stuff so had a balance of around £125 in my paypal.
The only thing I noticed was that when I was listing my ebay items, ebay have a different email address than paypal and ebay had used my yahoo adress whereas paypal I use my ISP adress. I added my yahoo email to paypal with no bother but it appears to have wiped out my card and my bank account. So now I've been waiting for 2 days to see what verification code they've sent to my CC and it's still not showing up on there- GAH! Think of all that lovely cashback I'm losing from my credit card.
I suppose I'll eventually get it sorted.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0
