Hi, I need help to unlock my laptop keyboard. After booting, the cursor is stuck in the middle of the screen and all the keyboard keys are locked. I presume that I have accidentaly pressed a wrong combination of keys. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

try control alt del, task manager, new task, explorer, if that doesn't work boot without the battery in, if that doesn't work, try safe mode by pressing F8 at boot!!

Thanks very much for your suggestions but, sadly, none of them worked. I couldn't even get the laptop into safe mode as the up/down keys were locked. Could it be a problem with the hard drive?
Thanks again for your help.0 -
Got a usb keyboard to plug in?
what happened before this started?
do you get the start button, and your normal desktop background?
try last known good config from the F8 menu!!

just press F11 (the one with the padlock on it)

Thank you both for your replies. I have tried all that you have suggested. The external keyboard sadly didn't work, the keys and mouse are locked as soon as I get into the F8 menu so I can't go back to the last known good config. and similarly the F11 key is locked. The last thing I did before this happened was an AVG virus update. Any other suggestions would be gratefully received and thanks again for all your help. Kind regards revjsc0

Just found this on another website dont know if its any good.
go to the acer site and download the drivers for your keyboard and mouse for the laptop and put them on a jump drive... put the usb stick in the laptop and boot it up in safe mode and reinstall them while you are in safe mode... then reboot.... they should now function now.....
And.......
For some reason, reinstalling the drivers for my sound controller and my processor fixed the issue with the keyboard. I had to go to Acer's site (http://www.acerpanam.com) and download the appropriate driver for the touchpad. After a quick reboot, all was well again.
Hope this helps.
