paypal problem

Hi I paid for an item on Sunday via paypal, and received an email today asking me to pay.
When I replied that I had paid, he has now said that I have paid his old paypal account that he doesnt have access to it, can I cancel the payment and resend it to his email address.
I am a little concerned about this, although its not a lot of money, will I be covered by Paypal if I do this and the item doesnt appear?

You will be covered if the item is one of those not excluded from buyer protection. However, it may take some time. If you are able to, open a dispute on the money immediately and escalate it. Once the buyer fails to show delivery to you, the money will be refunded.
Was this an Ebay sale?
The seller should only have one of each type of Paypal account, so it does sound a bit odd that he doesn't have access to his old account. I would not be sending any more money yet. If it is a case of the seller having a new email on the account, they can update their account to include the old and new emails.0 -
Firstly does the payment from your end show as unclaimed or showing an egg timer symbol?
Like chancesare says th eonly thing that concerns me here is this statement:he has now said that I have paid his old paypal account that he doesnt have access to it, can I cancel the payment and resend it to his email address.
Sellers can only have one of each type of account and not using nan old acocount suggests they have had problems with limitations or suspensions, and I would be worried. I would have been happier to see the normal excuse (and one that I have had to apologise for in the past) or mistyping a paypal addy, or using .com instead of co.uk on a Hotmail addy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
