Direct Debit taken early

I set up my dd to come off on the 17th of each month, 2 days after my payday.

In december, the payment came off on the 14th, causing me to go over my limit and the payment to be rejected due to insufficient funds.

This has cause charges on both my credit card and bank account.

Is there a way to claim these charges back and remove the negative footprint that it caused on my credit rating?

Thanks
Mark

I would imagine that your CC statement tells you each month the date that the DD will be taken and that in December this was the 14th. The DD mandate does allow the payee to vary dates/amounts on giving you notice.

You could try appealing to both companies - if it's a first off they may be lenient, but don't build your hopes up too high.
  • Direct debits always vary up to 3 days either side. I doubt you will get your charges back as it's not the bank nor the companys fault.
