Credit Card - NCP Not Taking Payment

Hi,

I sometimes park at the NCP car park next to work as they offer a discount day rate for the people in the office. When leaving the car park I pay at the exit with my credit card.

However I noticed on my statement today I have not been charged at all since the end of November. I have used the car park at least 20 times since then.

I called my credit card company today and there are 3 pending transaction from NCP from last week and these are all for the usual rate of £5.50. My guess is there has been a problem with their machine and they have now fixed it.

My question is if they notice the previous missing payments can they request them again from my credit card? If so do they have a time limit to do this in?

Thanks in advance, Alex.

  • I would not think so unless they have proof that you used the car park.

If they do have proof they have the right to ask for payment - it will be up to you if you want to pay using your credit card.
  • I doubt they would go to the hassle of tracing the payment through the reg. The thing is if they still have all payment details can they process the transaction? Surely there must be a time limit on how long they have to process a transaction or delete my card details.
  • They can ask for payment at anytime for the next 6 years.

If they have the payment details they can process the transactions - I believe for 6 months without any formality. After that there are more hoops to jump through but it's still possible.
  • Following up on the 3 pending transactions from the previous week.

These have now dropped off my credit card! My card has plenty of available balance and the payment was not declined by my bank. It seems as though NCP are not following through with the charge or processing it correctly.

What could be the reason for this? If NCP are the ones at error and they have previously tried to take payment can they try again?

    Really confused by all this!

Yes they can try again, whether they are at error or not.

I used an NCP car park in London last weekend, and it wouldn't accept my credit card... I ended up using my debit card and they had the cheek of charging me the 2.5% surcharge for credit cards! I've emailed them but have had no response... not happy!
