TV & Broadband without a contract

Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a pay as you go deal for TV and Broadband? I've checked out Virgin and Sky and all of their bundles include phone and are a minimum of 12 and 18 months.

We're only moving back to our property for around 4 months before looking to move so don't really want to tie ourselves into a long term contract. The only issue with the property is that we are in a valley, therefore cannot get reception through a normal arial (which counts out freeview I think).

We only want TV (+ Sky Sports would be nice but not essential) and basic broadband as we use our mobiles for calls and object to paying BT line rental for a phone we don't need.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Plenty of ISP's offer a 30 day rolling contract, though the upfront costs will be higher (connection fee etc). The main query is whether you already have a working BT line installed. If not, I think the PO are the only telcom offering line rental that isn't minimum 12m.
For your LLU options do an exchange search on https://www.samknows.com.
You can't have an ADSL broadband service without paying line rental-how do you think the broadband signal gets to the house?
If Freeview is not an option then how about Freesat? You'll only have the dish and LNB install costs, plus the box.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Not sure whether moving house enables you to cancel your contract with V/M or SKY without incurring any penalties. I did this with VM 12 years ago without any probs but things may well have changed since then. Suggest you speak to VM and SKY to confirm. You can phone them free via looking up their numbers on http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php.

You can watch sport for free on your PC at www.myp2p.eu but you will need internet access; probably with unlimited d/loads depending on how much sport you intend to watch.

With regards sports, please also remember the news last week with regards the EU hopefully approving the Portsmouth pub owner using a Greek decoder to get p/ship football in her pub; so I wouldn't tie yourself in with a long-term contract with VM/SKY until this has been made legally binding.

No chance - a 12 month contract is a contract and it is not the providers fault you are moving home. Sky at present do a free moving home service.

Illegal streaming and as it is P2P sharing you risk prosecution as you are illegally streaming the programmes many of which are from pay TV providers.

At present all we have is a recommendation from an advocate whose advice has been followed in 80% of instances. The decision is not expected for at least 3 months. This case has far reaching consequences beyond possibly cheap football for a year or two and could possibly lead to around 4 or 5 providers in total across the whole of Europe with all the smaller broadcasters going to the wall when the big boys outbid them for Europe wide exclusive rights.

I think the long and short of it is that I'll sign up with Virgin for the full package and move it across to my new property when the need arises. If I need to reduce my services to reduce the overall cost I'll do so.

    Thanks
