Help - Car Insurance for Mechanic who needs to socially drive other cars

Can anyone help with this? Getting charged a fortune from one company for this & a number of other "cheaper" options are saying because occupation is connected with motor trade they wont insure him for other cars.

The occupation will mean most off the peg insurers won't quote.
