Tv just went bang.

Hi.
I bought a second hand Tv today and because it looked a bit dirty I decided to give it a wash.
When my Oh switched it on you could hear a crackleing noise then a small bang.
It was working fine before I washed it so obviously some water must have gone in the back, although I did wring the cloth out well.
I know now I shouldn't have used water ( been told by OH at least 50 times ).
Does anyone know if this is a simple d-i-y job to fix or has the Tv had it.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: This is a windup right?

Take it to a TV shop before you fuse the whole street.

Unfortunatly it is not a wind-up ( wish it was though ) OH is still complaining about it 3 hours later.

I wont tho ;) But I would take it to a TV shop, at least check the fuses yourself.

I'm glad your finding it funny.
Can you point out to my OH why its so funny he might stop shouting about it then.

Tell him its one of those things, especially when in comparison to all the starving kids in the world, it kinda puts a perspective on things.

If it was a bang then it is unlikely to be something simple like a fuse (more likely the tube) - which means expense. A shop will normally charge you for a quote and it may be more than the TV is worth. A new one perhaps??? Get thye OH to pay it

btw was it plugged in when you gave it a 'wash'? If so then you are one very lucky girl that you are still here to type this.

Let us know how you get on

No it wasn't plugged in when I 'cleaned' it.
It could be the tube because the power light is still coming on.
