Its not an unusual for such companies. They quickly burn through large sums doing R&D. If it results in a successful drug there can be a huge payback, but all too frequently they fail to overcome all the many hurdles in bringing it to market. Much like all these small oil firms with big payback if they strike oil or sink without trace if they don't.0
