got an HD box coming from Sky

Is it easy to do the changeover. Sky are sending new box in the post and said its easy to change over yourself you dont need an engineer. have sky plus at the moment.

Have a Sony Bravia Tv. Is it as simple as they say do you need to buy any new leads or anything.?

It's a straight swap of boxes. Should come with an HDMI cable supplied.

It will also include a how to swop over your box guide, including how to pair it with your viewing card.

Mine had a sticker on the box recommending performing a forced software upgrade after the install. This is because the box may not have the latest software on it as delivered (e.g Anytime Plus)

Mine came two weeks ago minus the set up guide. But I took the Sky helpdesk at their word that it was easy and did a straight swap and it worked straight away. I called them to pair up the viewing card, but to be honest it seemed to be working before I did that, so not sure if that was totally necessary.

The only thing that threw me was that I didn't have any Anytime programmes, but he explained that these have to gradually record over a few days, and sure enough it's full up now.

If I can do it, believe me you will be able to :p

Managed it but had to phone sky a few times things are never straightforward. It said you have the wrong card when tried to view movies and sports. Sky said the old card has to be paired with the new box bit it dosent say you will have to phone them in the manual. Even the man on the phone said it was misleading.

I also had a couple of technical error codes that the man didnt know what they meant. He went off for ages to find out leaving me hanging on. When he came back he said its maybe cos your phone line isnt pluigged in but it was. Then suddenly it righted itself.

Never mind got there in the end. No sky anytime but i expect they will load. Things are never straightforward have learnt that over time. Its all a learning curve. Hope this helps anyone else who installs their own box. Ask any questions.

I think the hd pic is better on sports and movies but not much different on the ordinary channels. Prefer the old layout text was bigger. Listings are smaller on this guide.

Can you see the network tab in the set up menu?
Did you do a forced upgrade?

Switch off at the wall, hold down backup button, switch aon at wall and wait 'till all the LEDs come on, and the screen message.
    Takes about 10 minutes.
