Samsung LE22B470C9M not picking up all digital channels

Hi there

We recently got a Samsung TV for our bedroom, but having no joy with reception or picking up all the channels. We've tried using different indoor aerials with varying dB's up to 46 or so, and still no joy. We now plugged in the old type of aerial we had before (which seems to be better than the newer type aerials) and have tried autoscanning but each time it brings up channels it didnt before and missing out loads of others, eg. BBC channels but no ITV and so on.

Our Toshiba TV downstairs is connected to the outdoor aerial and we have no issues with that one, only the bedroom one.

Could anyone please give advice as to what we need to do, as this has been like it for 2 weeks now and still cant properly watch TV in bed, as we have to keep moving the aerial whenever we change the few channels we have :(. Thanks

Clearly you need to get some one in to run a feed from the aerial to the bedroom.

9 times out of 10 you'll never get decent digital reception with an indoor aerial.

  • The fact you are using an indoor aerial is your problem.

In the past people put up with snowy analogue picture on their bedroom TVs. With digital a substandard signal from an indoor antenna just results in no picture or severe pixellation.

If your area has not yet had Digital Switchover then there is a (small) chance that the situation will improve thereafter as the transmitted powers are increasing.

However, the only way you can be sure of resolving this problem is by paying a TV aerial engineer to install a new aerial point in your bedroom. He''l run a new cable from the aerial across your outside wall and in through the wall at the point you want the socket.

This may be possible using the signal from your existing aerial, thereby minimising the cost, but if there is not enough signal to split then you might have to change the aerial as well or fit an amplifier / splitter.
