Help Please - Trouble Installing IE7

I am trying to install Internet Explorer 7 and after it unpacks to a temporary directory I get the message "Setup could not verify the integrity of the files needed for installation. Make sure the Cryptographic Service is running on this computer"..... Any ideas please? I am running Windows 2000 (SP4).

Thanks in advance.

  • Start > Run

    Type "services.msc" and press RETURN.

When the "Services" window appears, scroll down to "Cryptographic Service". Right-click on it and click on "Start".

Which is apparently not compatible with IE7. The minimum system requirements state that:
Internet Explorer 7 will run on Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
I suggest you use Firefox 2 instead; it has much the same functionality built-in.

Thanks for your responses, I think Tanglefoot has hit the nail on the head, I'm off to install Firefox2.

    Thanks.
