Is this a good deal to get windows vista premium?

Hi there,

Just seen this on ebay,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WINDOWS-XP-MEDIA-CENTRE-EDITION-2005-WINDOWS-VISTA_W0QQitemZ110054044676QQihZ001QQcategoryZ41888QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

and there is a voucher towards vista premium (I emailed seller to ask if it was vista basic or premium, he replied premium)

What do you think, worth taking a chance on?

  • You might want to consider the review here which says: "Cons: The upgrade to Vista coupon requires you to have a receipt for a new computer otherwise it is not valid."

Also ask the seller about "SUPPLIED WITH A PIECE OF PC HARDWARE TO COMPLY WITH MICROSOFT RULES & REGULATIONS", i.e. what hardware is supplied?

there will be an "upgrade" version...normally less than the full "brand new" version

don't personally see the point in changing from XP to it though

Ok pricing is out for the full retail versions from Amazon costing between £185 for basic home and £325 for the ultimate edition.

Bare in mind that xp home retail costs £177 then is not hugely more expensive.

OEM versions pricing has not been agreed, and everyone will probably be after this.

Aria is offering a very similar offer, but they say if you buy
xp pro - Vista Business Edition
xp mce 2005 - Vista Home Premuim
    xp home -Vista Home Basic

Buying mce is probably the best bang per buck

But there is going to be a "nominal" fee on Jan30th for you to recieve vista. The actual fee is unkown, I have seen rumours of £5 to $50. Also no one seems to know if you will get a complete version or an upgrade.

Sorry if this just cloudied the waters more.

Out of curiosity, will the upgrade version of Vista come with a new licence key or will it re-use the key of the XP version it is replacing?
