Does anyone have any idea how I can open a file with this suffix.
I let my daughter borrow my digital camera. At first she though she had deleted my pics but then said they were on this file but I just can't find a way of opening it. I am really annoyed as they are holiday photos so it will be wonderful if someone can help with this.

Have you tried double clicking on it? A .lnk file is usually a shortcut link to a file. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Yes, tried that and a lot of other things as well. Even tried Googling for information for files with this suffix but got nowhere so far. Maybe someone on the BBC teckie section might lnow so I'll ask there. Thanks anyway.0 -
Sounds like you have lost them then. You really should have saved your pictures to somewhere safe yourself. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

a .lnk file is usually a shortcut to a location or file. if you right click it and select properties it will open a window givings it's details. click on the shortcut tab and then click find target. if it is valid i.e. it still poitns to somewhere real then it will open that file/folder.
hope that helps and you find the pics0 -
*IF* They were on a memory card and the memory card has not been overwritten with data then you *may* be able to recover the pics.

I didn't get the chance and I am really annoyed about all this. The camera was a gift from my daughter and family for my 70th and immediately afterwards they asked if they could borrow it as they were going to Spain. That was OK but then it was decided that it was necessary to buy a memory card and we went half each. They then borrowed it again for a trip to London. I never did get the chance to transfer my holiday pics to my computer but they assumed I had. I can't understand why they removed the pics already on the memory card as it is sufficient for hundreds of photos. My daughter had an idea which now seems to be a duff one and sent me an email with this file ending in .Ink.
I'll try the suggestions by billy whiz and roxorx and if I get anywhere I'll jump for joy and say thank you all very much.0
