How can I hide/change my IP address?

I use Blueyonder for internet access which allocates me a static IP address.
When I use some cashback sites on Quidco, it tracks the IP address.
As such if I make more than one purchase from a site it will not pay out the cashback as my IP has already tracked from the original lead.

Is there anything I can do to temporarily hide/disable/change my IP address to prevent me from losng out on muchos wonga? (Barclays seems to do it and they are currently giving away £125 cashback on Home insurance).

Thanks in advance.

are you sure they track on IP address? I think you'll find they track on your username (hence the reason you have to log in).

They (the company you buy from) track by cookies and IP.

This is quote by user Quidco in the Quidco thread on the referrers board:

:3. Competing cookies. I think we all know this one already which is simply that if you have other cookies set on your system or if you have even visited a site before going through Quidco, we may not be credited for the sale. If a merchant is using an IP session as part of their tracking they may count the initial visit to your site as their own referral and thus not credit the Quidco visit with the same IP session.
  • You could try going through a proxy ?

    Like this site http://www.proxy4free.com/page1.html

    Or use an software anonymizer
If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anyway

  • Or try this one https://www.psuedosurfer.com.

  • Are you paying for blueyonder to issue you a static ip address as this is not the standard...? You can test by opening a command window and typing ipconfig /renew if it change from your previous one then it is DHCP assigned and thus not static. So far as I am aware Blueyonder charge about £10.00 per month for a static IP and most usual users would not need one.

I've just tried this, but as I'm going through a wireless router, it only gives me the IP address the router has allocated me.
How can I check the IP address of the broadband router?

Log in to your router or use the whatsmyip website
If nothing suggested so far works then leave your router switched off overnight.

On some websites, I get advertisements targeted at my locality - if my IP is dynamic, does the first part identify my location and the latter part identify me?
Maybe the IP doesn't change as the router is always one so I my IP is never renewed.
  • You should be able to log into your router and renew the ip address from there. The ip address of the router (To access locally) is usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.100 You should find a challenge and response security login prompt and within the Lan settings you should be able to check dynamic IP status and refresh as required.
