    If it is for work, and work WILL pay it off each month, look into a card that has some rewards you could use. Don't rule out American Express, because a lot of places do take it and their rewards are pretty good. I am not sure what sort of business expenses you are likely to incur but Amex is widely accepted by hotels, garages, and for transport all over the world.

    Yes, Amex may have limited acceptance on the UK high street but I find for most business uses (hotels, flights) then it's fine. Also, if you go to the US regularly it is just as accepted as Visa or Mastercard.

    I'd still want to have a Visa/MC as a backup though.
