Going rate for babysitting New Year's Eve

As a quick money-making venture, I'm going to advertise my services as a babysitter for New Year's Eve. I live in an area where there are some well-off families, so I want to charge the highest rate I can get

I've got four kids and two step-kids so have bags of experience with new-borns to teenagers and I'm prepared to work hard as it's just for one night. I also have CRB clearance.

How much do you think I could charge? I thought of asking £15/hour or £100 for the night. I know it sounds like an outrageous amount but are there people who pay that much?

If it's a one off would you be able to provide references?

A friend of mine did this on millenium eve and regretted it when she was left with 9 children to look after.

I am unsure what parents would pay, I don't use babysitters.
One day I might be more organised...........

I don't use babysitters either! But for £100 cash I would look after 9 children.

References is a good point, I will think about that. I couldnt provide references for babysitting because I don't usually do it. But I always look after my own four children and whatever friends are visiting.

I know some agencies charge anything from £12/hr for NYE.
I'm babysitting for a 2yr old on NYE & have told parents it'll be £15/hr but the family said they were prepared to pay double/whatever I wanted, but I didn't want to be too greedy/end up losing the job to someone else. I'm a school teacher so already have CRB checks too
Married my wonderful husband February 2013!:happyhear
I want to wear my beautiful wedding dress everyday- it would make shopping so much more fun, I mean, people go shopping in their pyjamas these days.......
    Must STOP spending!!! :)

Depends on how long you are staying for.

I got £250 a couple of years ago...but I stayed all night...got there about 2pm and stayed until about 7.30pm the next day, so it was giving him (one boy, aged 7) 4 meals, wash, dress, playing for a loooong time.

worked out at ~£8 /hour for 29-30 hours. Have no CRB check, but for people I often babysat for. I think they were also paying me a bit for guilt of leaving him 'alone' for so long whilst they went to party and stayed the night there.
One thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.

Blimey, £250 - imagine paying that! I must work out how to advertise myself to the people likely to feel most guilty!

I actually enjoy looking after children, my own or other people's, and doing it in someone else's house would be quite a relief, not feeling you ought to be getting on with all the 101 jobs that always oppress you in your own home.

    for new years eve?!!

Id say £15 an hour for 1 to 3 children

obviously if there are more kids or you will be needed to put them to bed etc rather than just " be there" you could get away with charging a lot more !

people will pay stupid money if they really want to go out  advertise and see what reaction you get :)

advertise on the childcare board of https://www.netmums.com
