Returns - vouchers etc

My g/f scans reciepts over a certain value, £100, for record keeping. She has lost the original reciept so will Argos accept a photocopy of a reciept as proof of purchase for when she returns the item?

Plus, can you use Argos vouchers anywhere else - Homebase, Additions?

Additions is nothing to do with Argos and hasn't been for some time, the voucher I got only says it can be spent in Argos, Homebase is not mentioned on it.

Not sure if Argos will accept photocopies, but someone else will be able to tell you
  • Most Argos stores should except photocopies. Also vouchers can only be used in Argos thats definate.
  • You only need proof of purchase for returns, so as long as the copy is clear, you should be OK.

Only potential issue that I can think of is that when you return something, they cross it off the receipt to stop you buying things cheaper elsewhere, then returning them to Argos to make a proffit.

    argos employee here

just to confirm whats already been said really but

    1) additions is nowt to do with argos anymore and hasnt been for some time
    2) argos vouchers are exclusive to argos, and cannot be used anywhere else, even at our sister company homebase
    3) unless there are extenuating circumstances regarding the return, i should imagine the photocopy would be fine as proof of purchase.

ami right in suspecting though that it is over 16, or even 30 days since you purchased the item? or do you automatically disgard the original after it has been scanned? if the former is the case, then it is possible that the refund will be refused (unlikely, but some stores are more militant than others), or a refund will be offered as a gesture of goodwill on an argos giftcard. please do not assume that you will automatically be refunded in the same means that you paid for it.

    Thanks for all the replies.

The photocopy is still within the 16 day returns period. The original reciept was lost in the washing machine :( I paid cash so can I expect cash back?

Legally, you only have to provide proof of purchase, this doesn't need to be the original receipt. A court may consider the word of another person that was there at the time as proof of purchase.

I wouldn't trust the word of half the people who shop in Argos! :rotfl:
