Can I request...???

I know this is a forum for debt but as someone who is getting in control of their previous debt problems (see earlier post) I need some help to come out of the twighlight zone of being labelled a debtor and into the big bad grown up world of being debt free (but without being labelled a financial leper!). In other I need your expertise.
What I would like to know is...
Which financial institution is most likely to give me a current account with a cheque guarantee card?
and how can I rebuild trust when no-one is willing to lend to me (I have a good record with Capital One and Provident Personal Credit (althouth I don't think these count as I don't think they have any kind of raport with the credit reference agencies))
So, all in all, what I'm requesting here is personal recommendations of ANY financial institution that may help those of us who are beginning to see the light and want to prove that we can now be trusted.
thanks...

Getting a cheque guarantee card could be difficult. You may be better off getting a basic bank account first - this has just a cash card - and then asking the bank to upgrade your account for good conduct, after about 6 months.
There's a list of basic bank accounts here and you could phone around to see which will consider an upgrage for good conduct

Don't go to the Halifax...they won't upgrade you no matter what they say when you open the cardcash account. He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0
