Advice needed for an interesting short break

Hi everyone.
I'm looking for a short break with my girlfriend. We're about to take delivery of a new car and I want to go away for a few day's trip in it. we have a trip to centre parcs booked for February half term which I'm looking forward to but the last thing I want to do is get there in a lovely new car and leave it in a car park for a week, I'll be too excited to not drive it and taking the car out defeats the ethos of centre parcs!
We're from Wolverhampton so most places are within easy reach. What I'm looking for is something, quirky or interesting. We'd consider anything from boutique hotels to B&Bs in strange buildings. We're open to absolutely anything as long as it's not too far from the Midlands. I guess we'd also prefer the countryside but anything at all considered!
Any help please?

I would suggest that you look at Ludlow or somewhere near there as it will be a nice drive and not too far so you can just go for one night0

Kirkstone Pass in the Lake District is a fun road to drive. You can visit the The Kirkstone Inn at the top - the highest pub in England:

My favourite drive in the country (but further afield) is the A87 from Invergarry to the Isle of Skye. It's an amazing road, particularly out of main holiday season.
Quieter than the main routes in Scotland (e.g. the A9), it's a single carriageway road but wide, with big sweeping bends, through amazing scenery and with some lovely viewpoints along the way. You can comfortably do the 60 limit along most of it.
Google images for "driving the A87 to Skye":

Great ideas, thanks very much. I like the look of both but will probably leave Scotland until I've got longer to enjoy it. Ludlow looks a good one. Thanks again.0

What about a lovely little village in Shropshire, called Stiperstones? I can't do links cos I'm new, but if you google Stiperstones Inn it will give you lots of info. You can do lots of lovely walks over the hills, enjoy fantastic food in the pub and a warm welcome from all. They also do accommodation (although I have never stayed overnight). It is about 15 miles from Shrewsbury.
Hope this helps
