Ryan Air concerns - questions

I am flying with ryan air for the first time in couple of weeks from stansted to pisa in italy, after hearing so many negative things about them I am shall we say concerned.

I feel sure that the veriable members here can advise me on following

How much is luggage allowance as getting different stories

How much is the charge per case to go in hold

What are on board chargable services how much is a coffee etc breakfast? dinner as want to ensure enough sterling in purse.

anything else you may thing I should be aware of?

many thanks

You get 10 kilo hand luggage. Hold luggage is now 15 kilo, £3.50 EW if prepaid when booking flights, or £7 thereafter.
As you are asking ,I think the "thereafter" will apply unless youve booked with a tour opp in which case you will need to ask them.
A baguete or hot dog is around £3 ,coffee etc £2 , beer etc £3.
They just do snacks, not meals.
Try to get there early as they board nos 1-90 first.
From 1st November, families with children will no longer be pre-boarded however they will have the option of online check-in and priority boarding if travelling without checked in luggage or priority boarding purchased at the airport if travelling with checked in bags.

finally read the FAQ covers most things.

I have never had any bother flying with them. It aint "club class" but neither are the prices

Checkin closes PRECISELY 40 minutes before the SCHEDULED departure time. If you don't checkin in time, you don't fly.

Watch the hand luggage size - it's several inches shorter than the international standard

Don't pool luggage with a friend - the luggage allowance is per person and 2 people can't share one bag, so one bag between two people that weighs 30kg = 15kg of excess baggage profit for Ryanair

Finally have you checked how you are going to get to & from Stansted & Pisa airports

Ryanair is an Irish airline. Prices are primarily quoted in EURO, with GBP used as a secondary currency.

If you have your EUR ready to use in Italy, you can pay on board and get a slightly better deal.

thanks for all that very useful - driving to airport and train station actually in airport, already checked train times fairs etc other end, Planning on being at checkin 2 hrs before flight anyway as used to that with other airlines. Fly alot but first time with a budget airline.

We were going to do one bag till we saw weight allowance - profit move imho rather than speed of turnaround thing. daft as one bag would defo be enough.

i wouldnt worry about ryanair, 3.7 million passengers chose to fly with ryanair during october

what i would be concerned about is stansted, having seen very long security queues, and at other times no queues at all ( check ryanair news for more info), i would make sure you get there as early as possible

if it all runs smoothly you might have to hang about in departures for a bit longer instead of sitting at home, but if you get caught in big queues getting there early will be a lot less stressfull

Again thankyou ...........I am paranoid about missing flights trains etc so am always early................there well before check in opens booked package via later rooms and airways company was not optional so to say or would have paid extra to fly with some one else given the bad press and the attitude displayed by ryan airs owner.

But pre warned about what to expect and the stanstead problems is a great help - never flown from standsted dispite being only 90 mins away.

    Thankyou again.

I'm going to Dublin for a weekend in December with the gf, and we've only paid for one bag to go in the hold. We're only there for one night, so we wont go over the 15kg allowance - would RA have any problem with us only checking in the one bag?

As long as the bag you check in is within their weight allowance, there won't be a problem.

you may want to allow a little extra time to get to stansted if its peak time...ive been past there a couple of times in the last 2 weeks and the traffic was terrible....
