BT, VIRGIN,TALK TALK, FREE SAT , SKY ?? which one do I choose???

I'm about to be out of contract with a BT vision/ broadband contract. I'm pretty fed up with them> I have a satellight dish and 2 Ariels to various rooms from it that i've never used and a sky free sat card and old sky box that i've never tried to set up yet.( so i've no idea if any or all work, but the box doesn't record) I can't get free view and I would struggle to afford a recording sat box but i'm fed up with BT vision charges , for .. not a lot.... so in a package i would be looking for cheap calls, tv with record facility and broadband, which I use a lot but download very little. I would love to hear what people suggest ( polite please ) as the best viable choice based on experience and cost. Thanks Regards Amanda

    Sounds like you have an old Sky receiver with a Freesat from Sky card.
    With this you should be able to get a range of channels similar but not quite the same as with Freeview (terrestrial) or Freesat.

    If you want to record Freesat without subscription then you will need to buy a suitable freesat + box.

    Id recommend you connect it up and check if its working.

    By two Aerials, do you mean terrestrial aerial on the roof or the feeds from your satellite dish?

    To see if you can get a better broadband deal do an exchange search on samknows website and check out the LLU operators.

    If you're in a VM area,you can get all three for £9.50 a month for the first six months,free install too;
    http://shop.virginmedia.com/bundles/tv-broadband-and-phone/phm-tvmp-bbl.html
    Have a look at the other packages.

    Currently I'm paying;
    TV-Sky-£38 (HD.Base,Living & Knowledge pack)
    Phone BT-varies between £19 & £28 a month,(switching to Primus tho as I'm fed up of BT)
    BBand-O2-Base pack £7.50 a month if I top up my mobile,£12.50 if I dont)

    If VM were in my area,I'd be with them like a shot.

    I pay a little under £50 a month.......... for TV have a mix of entertainment and news packages (and Sky movies on half price at the moment) Two boxes (one straight Sky box and a Sky plus ) one upstairs one down, phone with Unlimited package includes free calls 24/7 to UK landlines and a variety of overseas destinations including most of Europe USA Canada and Australia and Uncapped BB (I get about 16 MEG).

    I find it's much cheaper to package all three services together so it's probably worth seeing what Sky and Virgin will offer you all in.

    Ahh..sounds like you're in a Virgin National area,same as me.In that case your best bet would be to look at Primus for the phone (£6.99 a month) & either O2 Base or Sky base internet which is free.But you'll need to look on https://www.samknows.com to see what DSL providers are in your exchange.Then for the TV,A you've already got a Sky dish & if the is a Quad LNB (the square thing on the arm of the dish) then buy a second hand HD box off E-Bay or Humax free sat box.(or look at what deals Sky have at present,without the HD,it's £19 a month.
    If you go the Sky route,all you need is a viewing card sent out if you subscribe.
    So all in it'd be;

    Primus phone- £6.99 + calls
    Sky base internet-free
    or
    O2 Base-£6.99 (discounted from £12.50 if you have O2 Mobile)
    Sky TV- £19.00
