laptop scam, misleading link to police auction, are they aloud? advice please!

My sister who rarely uses Ebay, went and won t a link to information on police auctions, where laptops are sold.It cost around £13,for the link, and she stupidly thought she'd found a bargain laptop for £13.Obviously the auction is set to be misleading.Anyway she was using my Dads Ebay account,as she isn't online. She doen't want to pay for it,she wants me to sort it out for her,as I use Ebay more, she seems to think she can just call Ebay they'l see she isr ight, and it's as easy as that!
What should they do,are these misleading auctions aloud(I haven't actualy seen the listing)Is there a phone number she can ring Ebay on,how do you find the sellers number?
Or should they just accept they've fallen for it,and pay up,and be thankful it wasn't a larger amount. My Dad doesn't want neg feedback,he told her not to bid(she's not a child by the way !)
Well I don't really know,if I have any sort of Ebay quibble ,I always ask on here, and get excellant advice!

I have had one sherry too many tonight....but £13 is dirt cheap for a lesson on EBay pay up and say thankyou. Then don't be so gullible the next time!!

Lay off that sherry Hintza..or else share it about a bit!

Peakma, if the auction clearly stated it was for a link then it is likely that the seller will merely get a slapped wrist if reported to ebay, it is really up to the buyer to read what is being sold. However, if the auction was actually a scam, then ebay may intervene and suspend the buyer. However, I would think that since the auction finished at only £13 that it was fairly obvious it was just a link, otherwise the end price would have been much higher.

Your sister could try contacing the seller and offering to pay reasonable fees to be let off from going ahead. Whether or not the seller accepts the offer could well depend on how eager he is to avoid negative feedback. If the seller refuses to be paid off, then there is really no other alternative but to pay for the link and be warned against buying without reading the auction in future.

If your sister refuses to pay then your dad's account will almost certainly get a non payment strike, which remains for good, and possibly a neg as well.
