Broadmarsh Coach Station Nottingham is a disgrace

I need some advice on how to proceed on a small problem.
Recently I had a disabled visitor to take to the Broadmarsh coach station in Nottingham to catch an early morning coach to London. This gentleman is does not use a wheelchair, but his disability is such that he can not walk more than a few yards at a time.
Broadmarsh has a drop-off point which is in the car park above the station which still requires walking at least 100 yards to get to the stops that National Express coaches park.
For this reason I decided to stop briefly in fron of the station which is very close to the National Express stop, so that my guest can get to it.
The engine was running and as I took his case out, a bus driver approached to let me know that I am being filmed and that I will be fined £120 and 3 points on my licence for having stopped on that location!!! I tried to explain that my passenger couldn't walk from anywhere else but he seemed to take pleasure, holding his thumb up while he repeated I will be fined and punished!!!
Anyway, now I like some advice. Is it worth complaining about disabled access facilities at the station? If I am fined and given points, do I have reasonable grounds to fight it? I feel really frustrated that in this day and age there are no provisions for disabled people.
Thanks

I would send a poliet but frimly worded letter not only to which ever company this bus driver was representing, but also the people who run the coach station concerned.
I am not sure about the fine, but if its from a private company get your self over to the motoring board and they will see you right.
I know what you mean as I know someone who would really struggle to walk 100 yards, but they dont use a wheel chair.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -
Thanks for your reply.
I made lots of calls to the station and bus company. But no one could tell me who operated the cameras. City council told me it's the bus company, teh bus company told me it's operated by someone else..etc.
Anyway, it's now been 15 days and I haven't received any fines. So I am guessing it's the end of it.0 -
I know what you mean! I often pick my Neighbours Elderly Mother up from there. I tend to pull in by big city tyres and wait in the car whilst she takes her Mum but it's still a good walk for someone with difficulties.0

This is one of those cases where it's hard to tell if it's a private scam enforcement area, or a public place in which you would get a genuine ticket.
The passing of 15 days suggests a genuine ticket is unlikely, but you might still get a scam one.
They take longer because the private parking company has to apply to the DVLA for the details of the vehicle's registered keeper.
It's still good news for you, proper tickets are like sticks and stones, they can hurt you, private tickets are just words, albeit nasty, threatening ones.0 -
Thanks.
So what do I do if I get a scam one? Ignore it?0
