  • there are 2 shops in peterborough 1 is the wedding shop in rivergate (was pronuptia but changed name) and is not open daily. the other shop is called swanky rags, it is opposite the library upstairs above another shop. not sure what it is like.

have you tried looking on ebay? i got a gorgeous prom/ball gown 2years ago for £60 and it was selling in shops for £100. plus i have just bought a gorgeous dress for my 30th off ebay from a seller in australia that sells ball gowns as well.
due to spilling coffee :coffee: on my keyboard it works when it wants to :rotfl:

  • When I was at my Uni ball, I got my dress in TKMaxx - really cheap dresses that are perfect for school and uni occasions! Proms seem to be getting really big in schools now as well don't they?

Add me as another parent wanting to make their daughters prom special, I have been lucky as a friend is a seamstress so has offered to make one as I think part of the dilema for my dd was that everyone would wear the same dress.... Now it sounds nice but I can't find a pattern that we like so were still struggling lol

I do agree about tk maxx I bought my bridesmaid dresses from there and a beautiful ball gown for a 'do' that I attended and the prices were fab.

I'd say get in there quick the dresses go fast so she can check out if any of the other girls are from her school ;) also I'm not an expert but maybe adding a little personal twist with a sash belt or if your very brave some little embellishments will make sure it looks different :)

I have just bought a gorgeous ball gown from ebay. I was a bit dubious to buying it, but the seller had good feedback, and has sold quite a lot of dresses.
My OH told me the other night we were invited to an awards ceremony in May and it is going to be black tie and ball gown, now I just live in jeans and t-shirts!
if you do a search on ebay for Cherlone dresses, she has quite a lo in lots of different colours and styles, I bought a burgandy colour for £34 which is fab!
You never know you might get a bargain!
    Good luck!
