30th Present ideas?

Hi everyone!

My husband will be 30 in April, and I had a great idea that rather than getting him a "main" present, I would get him 30 smaller ones...seemed like a great idea at the time! Anyway, ive started, and want to finish, but last week (or the week before) I had a bit of a lightbulb moment as far as our finances go and have majorly overhauled just about everything I could think of and sold most our our stuff on ebay lol.

So I was wondering if anyone had and cheap/ thrifty ideas I could get for him? Im looking for just small "tokens" really, the cheaper the better!

Thanks for your ideas everyone :-)

Here are some things I've bought for my 33-year old son in the past: candies (he loves Haribo), Blu-ray movies (great bargains on Amazon, £9-£10), books (based on what he is interested in), caps, iTunes card (£15.00), iPhone case (£4, if he has an iPhone).
  • i got my husband a box of bits - a cd from the year he was born, a copy of the newspaper from the day and place he was born, coins from his yea of birth and then things like socks, beer, etc.
due to spilling coffee :coffee: on my keyboard it works when it wants to :rotfl:

How about some fun little things from his childhood - retro sweets, little toys, maybe a dvd of his favourite kids tv show (I got OH a Dangermouse dvd a bit back and was great fun watching it!).
  • I did this in July last year for my husbands 30th. I got him the following (will try to remeber them all!)
    Retro sweeties (£5)
Goonies DVD (bargain £3 from Amazon!)
Voucher for a restaurant (£30) Not much but it pays some of the way
Cinema voucher (£10) Enough for 2 tickets
Homemade voucher for a family walk and gourmet picnic
    T-shirt (£5)
    Wallet (£10)
Made him a family tree, starting with our son based on this one http://www.marthastewart.com/article/family-tree-fan-chart
Family days out book (£5) but got it with tesco vouchers
Nando's spicy cooking sauces (£1.50 each on offer, think I got 3)
I wrote him a little love poem and put it in a nice glass bottle
    CD (£3) amazon again!
    Boxers
    Pint of socks
Homemade vouchers for a bit of, ahem, 'sexy time!' :kisses2:
Some real ale (£5 gift set from tesco)
Photo collage of our wedding photos (we were married in June)
Voucher for a men's pedicure (£18) well worth the money. He was a bit reluctant at first but he absolutely loved it!
Homemade voucher to go shopping for some new clothes.

Can't remeber the rest at the moment, I'll come back when I do!

I love the newspaper idea. It is so exciting to read what happened the day you were born. I kept the newspaper the day my granddaughter was born last september. Well done yummy-mummy-amy :T
  • Best husband ever mug? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Best-Husband-Ever-Personalised-Gifts/dp/B004B9Z8OY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1296681314&sr=8-1 They look pretty cool!!!! Quite a fun gift too!!! 30 small presents is a great idea - I would never have room for them all though lol :-)
  • How about a nice photo of the two of you in a frame? You could buy a cheap frame and decorate it yourself, or just pick a cheap simple frame which will emphasis the photo - cheap, sweet and a lasting reminder of his special birthday!

it was my hubby's 30th last yr.

i bought him a really nice watch i got in the sale for about £90 bargain is stunning which i'm gonna get engraved, but i want to make sure he liked it first, lol

then got him lots of little bits, like xbox 360 games, dvd's, £30 itunes vouchers, socks ( bit of a wind up tradition),stuff for his trains hobby chocs, smellies. i didn't have much money to spend on him as it our dd birthday 6 days later and we were going on holiday the day after that. if i'd had more money i would of splashed out and bought alot more.
