this is my first post hope its in the right place.
in july four of us went to cork with bmi baby flying from east midlands no problems going out however the return was a different matter our return flight was at 12.10 saturday afternoon initial delay of 1 hour eventually board plane, plane stays put another half hour pilot announces there would be a further delay as "one of the baggage handlers has thrown a bag and it has broken the seal on the door and door wont shut" after another 20 minutes or so the pilot announces we are all to get off the plane and go back into the departure lounge, an employee from bmi baby comes through to announce that our flight had been cancelled and it was our responsibility to get ourselves back home all passengers were given a telephone number to contact bmi baby after eventually getting through to someone in scotland we were told if we wanted another flight with bmi baby the earliest would be 8pm the following monday bmi baby said that in the event of a technical fault they reserve the right to basically wash their hands of their passengers. Familes with young children, old aged pensioners, people with no credit or debit cards or cash were all left to sort themselves out. we managed to get someone in england to get us a flight the following day via the internet but this was to birmingham and our car was parked at east midlands more inconvienience there, after talking to our insurance company we were told we can claim the cost of our flight to birmingham back providing we have written confirmation from bmi baby that they did indeed cancel the flight we have emailed bmi baby only to be told that it takes 4-6 weeks to get a reply. we are still waiting its just over 6 weeks????????
