Warning - Transaction appears multiple times on statement

Hi

Just a warning really - on new years eve there was a problem with payment processing for Lloyds clients which resulted in transactions appearing multiple times on your account.

I didn't think this would affect me as I bank with HSBC although had a look at my statement yesterday and I've been charged 3 times for a single transaction.

I know Lloyds issued a statement to say the company that processes their payments (Cardnet?) would fix this automatically and that some folk had been charged twice although there was no automatic intervention and had been charged three times.

It doesn't matter who you bank with, depending on who the merchant / shop-keeper uses to process their payments - might be wise to have a quick look at your bank statement for the week following new year's eve.

Thanks

Lester

There have been a number of posts about this. My understanding is that each bank had to invoke contingency plans to reverse the transactions, and refund them back. Some had fixes, to ensure no charges or interest accrued as a result of the payment possibly taking the account overdrawn.
    Best Regards
