please help??? barclaycard reclaim!!!!!!!!!!!

hi , any advise needed here

i recently applied to reclaim charges from barclaycard.... sent the letters i needed to from this site , got the charges letter back , with a partial offer of 797.22p , this was a PARTIAL payment offer and i was actually owed more , so i declined the offer and asked for FULL and the 8% interest

got no reply to this , so i phoned this morning to complain and as i was going through the automated service , i heard that my balance had been cleared and i owed nothing on the card , BARCLAYCARD have added the offer to my balance and cancelled my card????? i rejected this offer? i know they are entitled to their money that i owe them , but surly they cant credit my account when i didnt ACCEPT ?????

If they offered it, and you didnt accept, they can still clear your card, and you can fight for the rest of the charges if you still want to. They won't give you a payment if you owe on a card, and they can cancel a card anytime they like.

You should be glad, that account is cleared and closed!

You might want to open a new CC account (if you can get one) and run this one properly.

They did a similar thing to me, I refused their first offer and pushed for the full amount but they still took the first offer off my card balance - apparently they did it as soon as they made the offer. I kept on at them and got them rest of it back eventually. They will put any refund towards your card balance first though - but then I wasn't bothered about that as my main aim was to try and get the card cleared.

No, that's presumably why you have incurred so many fees.

You are required to pay the money back in line with the terms and conditions, not as and when you feel like it ;)

  • hi , iv had 4 loans in total with barclays over the past 6 years

im thinking of reclaming the ppi , but still owe on 2 of the loans and have a closed CURRENT ACCOUNT with barclays which has a balance which i pay back monthly

if i am successfull , i know the refund will go to the loans first but can they pay the money to the current account that i owe them too as this is a seperate debt???????????????

Hi there if mis sold ppi then you can still make a reclaim on all the accounts, it makes no difference if the accounts are settled or active, and as long as there are no arrears/missed payments, the refunds may all be awarded directly to you.
And they will deal with these separately, so it does not necessarily mean they will take from the other to pay on the other if you know what I mean.;)

  • thanks for the reply

    i think its called 'offsetting'

its when they agree to repay the ppi , but they pay it towards any debt i owe to barclays , the only thing i can maybe reclaim is the ppi repayments that i made

As you point out, the rule of offsetting does allow them to keep the refund, if you get one, to pay debts owed by any company within the group.
