Bradford & Bingley chritmas saver after matured

Bradford & Bingley's Christmas saver will be matured after 1-Dec.

Today I went into branch to deposit my last payment, the rep said I dont have to take the money out, the money will be still at 10% rate.

Anyone heard or see anything like that?

I dont believe any of her words.
Spend smart, and save more.

Well I rang my local branch. They told me to either go in person, or post my certificate to them, tell them where to send the matured amount and they would send a cheque to me. They do not have facilities to do a BACS to a bank! Year 2006 or the dark ages!

This is the case with virtually all regular savers.

I'll be glad when my account matures, the 10% rate was not worth the junk mail and the canvas calls they have bombarded me with.

The a/c matures on Friday 1st Dec. Withdrawal is only possible by cheque.

After maturity, the interest rate is BOE-2%.

You can instruct your branch to send the cheque directly to your bank, which will save a day or two. You will have to send your instructions together with the certificate to your B&B branch.

Received a letter to-day advising me of the options after maturity:
If you'd like to continue saving regularly - then why not consider our Premier Additions account? Premier Additions allows you to save between £10 and £1,000 each month in return for an attractive* rate of interest.
Is that a joke, or what?

    * attractive = 4.75%

Withdrawals are only possible by cash or cheque as this account has not BACS facility, I was told.

Isn't it strange though, that for the interest there was on option on the application form to have it transferred to another B&B account or by BACS to an external account?

Well, I've posted mine off today asking them to transfer after maturity by BACS if possible, if not to post to my bank having given sort code, acct. no and address and if that fails, post to me at home. So will wait to see what they can manage to do.

I was told on Saturday that withdrawals can only be by cash or cheque - confirmed in the circular today. Also, there is a branch limit on cash you can take out (£750, I think).

Letter advised cancelling any standing order / direct debit set up to pay onto the account.

Asked if I could transfer to another B&B account - answer was no.
