i sold my flat and opened 2 more current accounts to the existing one i have now in the middle if november. it wouldn't allow me to upgrade online so i phoned up the tsb on the (25th nov) to upgrade them to vantage, the lady said yeah thats no problem and everything would be done. i put 7k in these 2 extra accounts on the 1 december, however online they still stated current accounts where as i other one said vantage current account. didn't think anything of it until i went in to my local tsb to put in a cheque last wk (30 dec) and just asked the assistant what my other two accounts were. she said they hadn't been upgraded to vantage ones, so she gave me a couple of sheets to sign and said go online tom and they'll come up saying vantage like my main one. so i got my £19 interest in one while my other two i got just under £3.she said i should complain? would this do any good? or am i wasting my time. mainly writing this to warn other people. i doubt i can get my interest back. just a bit annoying. luckily i'm quite sad and have everything writting down in my diary so i know exactly when i rang them and everything. just annoying!
it was only the month before i sold my flat on the 26th and didn't receive my money until late on the 1st of dec from my sol, someone telling me they prob kept the money to recieve the interest off it. not a fan of sols and bankers at the mo

If they're still called 'Classic' on your accounts page, the following worked for me online, but the ability to do it may have been removed by now.
1. On the 'Your Accounts' page click on the the Classic account you want to upgrade to Vantage.
2. Click on the 'Apply Online' box on the right hand side of the screen.
3. Click on the 'Current Account' link.
4. On the bottom left of the screen you should see an option to 'Add Vantage to your account'. Click on the 'Apply now' link.
5. Select the Classic account you want to upgrade to Vantage.
6. Click the agree to conditions box and enter your password.
7. Repeat for the other account.
8. Your account name should have changed from 'Classic' to 'Vantage'. The other will too as you Vantage each.0 -
.....on the Lloyds website account opening page it states......."applying for an additional classic account"...however when you press apply you get the page where one of the conditions is you do not hold a current account with Lloyds...?0

Yes, it is a bit odd that!
We found that the easiest way to open additional Vantage accounts is to phone them......

Do you need to take any documentation to your branch or is a phone call sufficient? However hard up you are, never accept loans from your friends. Just gifts0 -
My husband opened his first account on-line, never had to produce any ID, though he is already an HBOS account holder so maybe that helps. And I already had accounts with Lloyds.
Then once that account was up and running and had some money in it, after a few weeks he opened the second one on the phone, all he needed was the details of his first account, nothing to take to the branch . Then about 2 weeks later he opened the 3rd Vantage account, again no ID required, only took about 5 minutes. As these are current accounts they do run a credit check.
You get an account number and sort code immediately, then after about 24 hours the account shows upon your internet banking. All very easy.0
